Player Code of Conduct

            As a sports ministry we focus on providing a safe and healthy environment for all players. The mission of Red Rocks Sports is building an atmosphere that welcomes competitiveness but not at the expense of building relationships and community with other participants. These are some very simple guidelines that are enforced across ALL leagues to help achieve the mission and we ask that all players abide by them. Keep in mind that this is a sports ministry, so If anyone is struggling with the following areas, we are here to walk with you and pray for you.

Physical altercations will not be tolerated

After the whistle: Physical altercations (pushing, shoving, punches, etc.) will result in an immediate ejection. This is not excusable under any circumstance and will be strictly enforced. These altercations will also be looked at on a case-by-case basis by the sports ministry staff to determine if further action is needed.

During play: We understand that physical contact is part of sports and unavoidable. However, if a player creates physical contact with any intent other than what is deemed appropriate and normal considering the sport, there will be an immediate ejection. This will be enforced upon the referee's discretion.

We ask that players refrain from alco hol and tobacco use during sports ministry activities

     "So let's stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall."                                             - Romans 14:13

At sports ministry events we ask players to consider refraining from alcohol and tobacco use, knowing that these are real addictions in our world and struggles for many people. It is the sports ministry mission, that regardless of your past, or present circumstances that you feel loved and part of this family. The activities we participate in as a ministry give us special opportunities to help carry the burdens of those who are struggling.

Arguing or "showing up" the Referees will not be tolerated

"Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God."             - Romans 13:1

The Bible calls us to submit to authority; in the sports ministry these are referees, league managers, and volunteers. Umpires are prone to make bad calls and we understand that it is natural to react when we disagree with something. While we encourage you to be competitive, we are also called to submit to the authority's decision which means complying with the calls made without argument. If there are any questions or concerns during or after a game, the captain of your team is the only one who is allowed to talk to the umpire about it. Ejection may result if there is failure to comply with the referees or consistent argumentative behavior.

No foul language is allowed during a game or event

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil."                                                                                                                                                                                     - Proverbs 4:23-27

The words of that come out of our mouth are extremely powerful. If we use our words correctly we can bring life to people. We do this by looking for ways to strengthen, edify, and build people up. This is critical and the reason why we are a ministry and not just a sports league. We want you to feel empowered to bring life to people!  

24 Hour Rule

It is amazing that God has given us the ability to be competitive and get emotionally invested in something like sports. It can enhance the enjoyment and experience of the game but it also has a downside. During and after a game we can all agree that to some degree there is a heightened state of emotions. If there is a situation related to a game where a player wants to talk to a league manager, we require a 24-hour grace period. This allows for calmer heads to prevail and productive conversations to happen.
